Bill Russell is one of the all time great in the sport of basketball. There is no question he is a superstar but how good was he actually? Today I am going to be breaking down the career of Bill Russell and finding out how good was bill Russell actually.

Bill Russell was drafted in 1956 to the Saint Louis hawks but was later traded to the Boston Celtics. In Bill’s rookie year he put up great numbers of 15 points a game and 20 rebounds a game which is just insane considering he was just a rookie. What is even more impressive is that he led his team to the championship in his first year and gained his first ring. In Bills next season he took it up a notch averaging 17 points a game and 23 rebounds a game. He also won MVP that year due to his amazing play. That year Bill Russell did not win the championship but the next year he did, averaging the same numbers of 17 points a game and 23 rebounds a game. From here on out this is considered Bill Russell’s prime as in the years 1960 to 1966 Bill won 7 championships and 4 MVPs. At this time Bill was ruling the 60s and no one could stop him.

After 1966 Bill started to slow down a bit but he still kept winning championships as he won back to back in 1968 and 1969…
